Date format issues when exporting from the Dashboard to Excel

Fastmarkets Dashboard provides the functionality to export data either to our Excel Add-in or static by copy/pasting to Excel or export spreadsheets in .xls or .csv format. The date format of data exported will reflect your system and browser settings, for example if in the United States format would be mm/dd/yyyy but if in Europe dd/mm/yyyy.

In order for the date format to correctly reflect your settings selection it will need to be aligned in operating systems settings (affects Excel Add-in) and web browser (affects Dashboard)

Below is an example to ensure your dates reflect European formats of dd/mm/yyyy.

Step 1 – Windows Operating System regional settings:

In the bottom left corner of your laptop or pc search bar type “regional format”

Select Set regional format.

In the Region section select your Regional Format as English (United Kingdom). You can ignore any other language settings.

Important: Any changes you make in these settings will require a full reboot to ensure this is reflected in the Dashboard exports. Depending on other changes you make below you may wish to reboot last.

Step 2 - Web browser language settings:

Edge (settings here are determined by the above operating system settings and will automatically override any changes you make in Settings > Languages):

Click on the 3 dots in the top right of your Edge browser toolbar

Select Settings

Select Languages > section titled Share additional OS regional format

Chrome (these settings, unlike Edge, are not aligned with with your Operating System settings and will result in misalignment so the below settings need to be adjusted):

Click on the 3 dots in the top right of your Chrome browser toolbar

Select Settings

Select Languages > Preferred languages > English (United Kingdom)

If this is not in the listed languages then you will need to click Add language – search for English United Kingdom) and select 3 dots & tick the check box next to it.

Once added to the list click on the 3 dots next to it & tick the box labelled Display Chrome in this language.

You can ignore any other language settings which maybe different.

Important: Any change you make to these settings will require you to fully close the browser (not just tabs) & open a new browser.

Step 3: Excel language settings (note, these should also adjust according to your Operating System settings):

Should you wish to check and align language settings:

In an Excel workbook – File > Options > Language (1. Match Microsoft Windows [English] <preferred>

Office authoring setting is not relevant.
