Finding prices and data

The Content Finder is organised by exchange, data sources and tools.

• Exchange data – search for LME, CME and SHFE prices and warehouse stocks
• Other data sources – view precious metal spot rates, LBMA prices, spot FX rates, FX forwards, and US interest rates
• Access historical data in both tables and charts
• View the latest news headlines related to the exchange markets, search for news by keyword or metal
• View Research and Analysis content and opinion

Exchange data sets from LME, CME and SHFE can be found in each of the relevant areas. Click on the bubble to open the exchange data and add it to your screen. 

LME Prices and data

The LME section of the Content Finder contains several section to help you find the relevant data and prices. The Key Contracts section contains Cash, 3M and C-3M spreads as well as metal overviews.

View LME live prices

The standard set up screen in the Advanced tab displays the LME Cash, 3M and C-3M prices. Its also in the LME Data, Key Contacts section of the Content finder mentioned above.

The widgets for LME have some unique fields to be able to view the source of the data. The yellow S icon displayed for exchange venue shows you that the quote or trade comes from Select. Where a trade is from the Ring it will show R1, where its from the Inter Office venue you will see IO. Fastmarkets also implies LME Cash prices from the latest prices provided by the LME for the 3M and C-3M bids, asks and trades and these are denoted by a purple Fastmarkets logo.

You can choose to remove or add metals or fields from the widget through the cog icon in the top right corner.

To view full forward curves for each forward strip with all prompt dates and the LME spreads (or carries) curves go to LME Data and LME Forwards or LME Spreads sections and add data to your screen

These widgets display the live market, as published by the LME. They show all the prompt dates plus the 3rd Wednesdays. If you are only interested in viewing the 3rd Wednesday, click the cog icon and you are able to change the view.

The forward curve shows the last traded price, the bid and ask, the time of update, the source (eg Select) and it also shows in the far right column, last night’s Closing Price for that prompt date.

Other sections of the Content Finder menu allow you to access Indicative and Provisional forward curves, LME volumes and open interest reports, options, warehouse stocks reports, LME official FX rates, LME currency crosses (for example LME 3M Copper in Euros) and key dates and times.

You can also access LME prices in cents per pount (lb), or currency crosses where you can see LME in Euros, Sterling or Yen as well as many other currencies.

Viewing LME Officials and Averages

LME Official prices and Averages are available in the Content Finder and are also already on the Mydesk standard screen in the Advanced tab.

The LME Officials widget also includes the average settlement providing a current month averages. You can also access historical monthly averages for LME Officials by clicking on the specific metal and drilling down to the month/year you would like to view.

You can choose which LME base metals appear in the LME Official Prices menu by selecting the cog icon. Whilst the LME Officials Prices widget shows the averages when you click open the metal, there is a separate LME Averages widget which displays the current month average as standard. When you click into the metal, you are able to view historical averages.

Viewing LME Closing Prices

The LME Closing prices are available from the LME Data, Benchmark Prices section of the Content Finder.

In the LME Closing Prices widget, select the date and then the metal you would like to view the Closing Prices for. The Dollar, Sterling, Euro and Yen Closing Prices will appear for all relevant prompt dates.

Viewing LME Warehouse Stocks

LME Warehouse stocks are also viewed from the LME Data bubble on the Content Finder. You can view stock totals, or drill down to view the regional and commodity breakdown of those stocks.

CME Prices and data

CME Data is arranged by key datas COMEX and NYMEX summaries, Settlement Prices, warehouse stocks and averages. You can also drill down by traded commodity.

View CME Prices

Comex and Nymex prices are available in the standard screen, in the Advanced tab as well as in the N.America tab, where you can access for example the Comex Copper full forward curve.

You can view minor metals, non ferrous metals, ferrous metals, precious metals or oil and gas futures from the CME Data menu in the Content Finder. From here, navigate to the relevant market and add the future strip to your screen. You will be able to access bid, ask, last, open, high, low, volume and settlement prices where available as well as the date/time stamp for the fields.

View CME Settlements

Beyond the pricing screens as shown above, the CME Settlement Prices widget allows you to see settlement prices at a quick glance.

Here you can select the commodity and then view the latest settlement prices. If you would like to see the historical data, you can see the dates on the left side of the widget and you can open these to view historical prices.

View CME Warehouse Stocks

CME Warehouse stocks are also viewed from the CME Data bubble on the Content Finder. You can view stock totals, or drill down to view the regional breakdown of those stocks.

SHFE Prices and data

SHFE Data menu in the Content Finder is arranged by Future Prices, Settlement Prices, warehouse stocks and averages. You can also drill down by market.

The standard set up with the Asia tab allows you to see the main SHFE contacts. In the Content Finder, the SHFE Data, Key Data, the SHFE Monthly Settlement Prices and Averages is a quick way to see settlements.

SHFE Future Prices widget allows you to see the bid, ask, last prices at a quick glance. You can use the cog icon to go to customize the fields and add the relevant settlement and close fields alongside their dates.

View SHFE Warehouse Stocks

SHFE Warehouse stocks are also viewed from the SHE Data bubble in Key Data on the Content Finder. You can view stock totals, or drill down to view the regional breakdown of those stocks.

OTC Prices - FX Spot, Forwards, interest rates, precious spot prices

Major FX spot rates are available on the Advanced tab in the set up screen. If you are searching for other global FX spot and forward prices, they can be found in the Content Finder under FX Rates. Here select a pre set widget with FX prices, or alternatively create your own My Prices table.

If you would like to add further FX rates to the existing global FX rates either in the Advanced tab, or to a widget that you have added to your screen use the cog menu to edit the list of FX prices and search for other FX rates that can be added to the widget.

If you are interested in USD SOFR rates, they are under the Treasury Data bubble in the Content finder, under the Interbank Fixing Rate

Precious metals prices can be found in the Content Finder under Precious Metals Data. Here you will find Spot precious metals (gold, silver, platinum and palladium), CME precious futures, SHFE precious futures and LBMA prices (gold, silver, platinum and palladium pricing)
